Media Relations Specialist – 2018 Frye Festival

The Frye Festival is a not-for-profit organization, in Moncton, NB, that oversees Atlantic Canada’s largest, bilingual celebration of books, ideas, and the imagination. We are looking for a talented and dynamic media relations specialist who will work under a part-time contract, starting as soon as possible in January 2018 and ending around mid-May 2018.

Key responsibilities & summary of job description
  • Keep an up-to-date media list.
  • Write, translate, and distribute media releases.
  • Manage all media requests for interviews and suggest interviews to the media, in keeping with the Festival’s activities and the availability of its guests.
  • Invite the media to the unveiling of the Frye Festival authors.
  • Manage all media relations before and during the Festival, and compile a final press folder.
  • Manage the placement of advertising, determine the content with the Festival, coordinate the design of the publicity with the graphic artist, obtain the Festival’s approval for all ads, and submit final files.
  • Manage promotion on social media.
  • Follow the Executive Director’s instructions and work collaboratively with the Festival team.
Skills and requirements
  • University education and 3 years’ experience in communications (or equivalent).
  • Excellent French- and English-language (written and spoken) communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Assets: experience with a cultural festival; sound knowledge of the cultural sector; and existing network of media contacts.
